COMPANIES: Aurora Commences Cannabis Oil Sales to German Pharmacies
On March 11, 2019, Aurora Cannabis Inc. (NYSE: ACB) (TSX: ACB) announced that it has commenced sales of cannabis oils to German pharmacies following all necessary approvals from Canadian and German regulatory authorities. The company’s product, Pedanios 5/1 drops, has become the first cannabis extract-derived oil product compliant with German standards for in-pharmacy preparation.
Aurora has supplied the German market with dried cannabis flower via Aurora Deutschland (formerly Pedanios) since December 2015, and with Canadian-grown Aurora products since September 2017. Indeed, Aurora is well positioned as a flower provider and now one of few companies able to sell oils in Europe’s largest and steadily growing market.
"Having established early mover advantage in selling cannabis oils in Germany, we are exceptionally positioned to extend our market leadership and accelerate growth of our European operations," said Neil Belot, Chief Global Business Development Officer. "As our global production capacity continues to ramp up, we are able to strategically allocate more product from our EU GMP certified cultivation facilities to this higher margin market that continues to be significantly undersupplied."
Aurora Cannabis shares gained 2.84% trading near $8 Monday, after ACB announced it had commenced sales of cannabis oils to German pharmacies.
COMPANIES: Green Thumb Industries Receives Second Retail License in Massachusetts
Green Thumb Industries (OTCMKTS: GTBIF), one of the largest vertically integrated multi-state cannabis operators in the United States, has announced the acquisition of its second provisional license for adult-use retail sales in the state of Massachusetts. Green Thumb Industries’ branded dispensary ‘RISE’ in Holoyoke, MA, received a provisional license on January 10, 2019, and will likely commence recreational sales in the next month or two, with RISE in Amherst, MA, soon to follow.
Green Thumb Industries is one of the several multi-state operators (MSOs) already scaling up as it replicates this model to expand its national footprint. The company has acquired licenses for cultivation, processing and retail with operations in ten states (Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Nevada).
Currently there are 11 dispensaries and 8 cultivation facilities open in Massachusetts that are selling to the recreational market. Apart from Green Thumb, Pharmacann (OTCMKTS: MMNFF) is currently the only other public operator with a recreational dispensary open in Massachusetts.
Despite the growing pains of the nascent recreational market, Massachusetts consumers will enjoy some of the lowest cannabis taxes in the country.
COMPANIES: Supreme Cannabis Signs LOI with Malta Enterprises for Cannabis License
On March 11, 2019, the Toronto-based Supreme Cannabis Company, Inc. (TSX: FIRE) (OTCQX: SPRWF) announced that the Company has signed a letter of intent with Malta Enterprises, the economic development agency of Malta.

If the license is approved, and Supreme Cannabis is able to produce medical cannabis in alignment with EU GMP quality standards, they will find themselves ideally positioned for distribution opportunities throughout the continent.
"We're pleased to announce that we have secured a letter of intent from Malta Enterprises, taking another step forward in our global growth strategy. Malta is not only a strategic hub for Europe, it is also home to robust existing pharmaceutical and nutraceutical manufacturing industries with a deep pool of expertise," said Navdeep Dhaliwal, CEO of The Supreme Cannabis Company. "Using the intellectual property and expertise we've gained in Canada, we intend to deliver high-quality cannabis products to medical patients in multiple international markets."
