Dr. Borchert is Associate Professor of Pharmacology at
the University of South Alabama College of Medicine. He
completed a PhD in Interdisciplinary Genetics in 2007 at
the University of Iowa, then a postdoctoral fellowship at
UC Berkeley where he worked in the world’s foremost
genetic manipulation lab under Dr. Jennifer Doudna
(inventor of CRISPR-Cas9 genomic editing). Since starting
his own laboratory in 2012, Dr. Borchert has received
numerous awards, published >25 articles characterizing
